San Dieguito Recruits was founded by SDUHSD community members working to help SDUSHD recruit much needed substitutes for the school district.

The District needs certificated individuals to help with teacher absences (traditional substitute), and to supervise onsite classrooms for teachers who need to teach remotely (proctor substitutes).

Approved pay is $250 per day.

1. Transcripts

Official Transcripts showing your Bachelor’s degree or higher.  

 

Electronic transcripts must be emailed to sdcred@sdcoe.net by the university directly.

Paper copies of Official Transcripts can be mailed directly from the university to:

Many official transcripts can be requested and sent directly to SDCOE electronically through portals affiliated with universities, including:

2. Basic Skills Requirement

Refer to the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) leaflet for a list of options to meet this requirement or submit a statement requesting deferment.   

NOTE: A deferment can be requested for the CBEST testing. To do so:

 

Submit a statement specifically stating: I request that the CBEST requirement be deferred in order to move forward with the issuance of the permit given the lack of availability of testing.

3. Fingerprint Clearances

You will be required to complete two sets of clearances:  

 

CTC Fingerprints (State) x 2

 

and 

 

Clearinghouse Fingerprints (County) x 2 

 

Access, print and complete 2 copies of CASM Teacher Credentialing (CTC) form for fingerprinting:
Access, print and complete 2 copies of San Diego County Clearinghouse form for fingerprinting:
Lookup a LiveScan fingerprint location for walk-in service or appointment.
Bring 2 copies of the CTC 41-LS fingerprint form and 2 copies of the Fingerprint Clearinghouse form.  On the bottom of each form is an ATI line.  That is the # that is issued to your scan. 
 
Keep 1 copy of each form to submit to the county as verification you completed the prints.
Find LiveScan fingerprint location and get fingerprinted.
Bring 2 copies of the CTC 41-LS fingerprint form and 2 copies of the Fingerprint Clearinghouse form.

4. Temporary County Certificate

Complete the SDCOE Temporary County Certificate form, available on the San Diego County Office of Education website.  Omit your social security number if emailing this form.

Access the SDCOE Temporary County Certificate form here:

Completion of Steps 1 thru 4 = County Substitute Teaching Permit

Once the SDCOE receives the above listed items (1 thru 4), one of their Credential Technicians will recommend you for the permit online and email you a receipt. 

 

You will then receive an email from CTC prompting you to complete the application online and pay for the permit with a credit or debit card using their website.

Once your permit has been issued and an online application has been submitted, SDUHSD can proceed with its hiring process.  

5. Apply directly to SDUHSD as a Substitute Teacher 

Complete the SDUHSD online application through edjoin.org.

Finally, after obtaining the County Permit, complete and submit the following documents to SDUHSD at humanresources@sduhsd.net for consideration to be added to their substitute call list: 

  1. Complete SDUHSD online application (above)

  2. Email a copy of your college transcript (unofficial or student copies are acceptable)

  3. Email a copy of your County Permit

  4. Email a letter of Introduction (see template here)

  5. Email a resume (if you do not already have one, see template here)​
